Electro-Homeopathy, also known as Electropathy, was discovered in 1865 by Dr. Count Cesare Mattei, an Italian nobleman and researcher from Bologna, Italy.
He was born on 11 January 1809 at La Rocchetta near Bologna, Italy. Inspired by the philosopher Paolo Costa, Count Cesare Mattei devoted his life, time, and wealth to serving humanity through medical research. His goal was to develop a natural system of healing that addressed not just symptoms, but the root cause of disease.
Between 1865 and 1896, Count Cesare Mattei worked extensively to establish the practical and experimental foundations of Electro-Homoeopathy. He developed plant-based remedies that he believed contained a special “electricity” healing force derived from nature. From June 1865 to October 1867 alone, he reportedly treated thousands of patients successfully. His growing reputation reached high levels of society and religious authorities.
Recognizing his work, the Pope of Rome allowed him to establish a separate Electro-Homeopathy department at St. Theresa Hospital in Italy, connected with the historic University of Bologna. There, Count Cesare Mattei continued his research, tested new remedies, and treated many patients independently.
As news of his treatments spread beyond Italy, people from different countries sought his help. One famous case involved a Princess of Austria who was suffering from a serious illness and had not responded to other treatments. After being treated by Count Mattei, she reportedly recovered, further increasing the popularity of Electro-Homeopathy.
Dr. Count Cesare Mattei dedicated his life to creating a new Materia Medica — a system of remedies aimed at correcting the fundamental cause of illness rather than only suppressing symptoms. He described the healing power in his medicines as a form of “electricity” derived from plants, which gave the system its name Electro-Homeopathy. He continued his work until his death on 3rd April 1896, leaving behind a medical system that gained followers in many parts of the world.
Electro-Homeopathy is based on a simple idea:
“Life exists in blood and lymph. Disease begins when they become impure. Cure comes through homeostasis.”
According to Dr. Count Cesare Mattei, most diseases originate in either the blood, the lymphatic fluid or both. He considered these two as the main life-supporting forces of the body. If one becomes disturbed, the other is eventually affected, leading to illness.
Blood is essential for sustaining life and maintaining strength. It –
A healthy blood system means better resistance and vitality. Any alteration in its normal quality or composition may lead to disease.
The lymphatic system is a network of glands and vessels that supports immunity and detoxification. Important organs include:
If toxins, chemicals, or metabolic wastes accumulate due to blockage or weakness in this system, they may remain in the body for years and gradually cause disease.

Electro-Homeopathy focuses on cleansing and balancing the body’s two vital fluids — blood and lymph. When these are purified and harmonized, the body regains its natural strength, immunity, and healing capacity.
Electro-Homeopathic remedies are promoted as suitable for people of all age groups — from children to the elderly. They are commonly used in both short-term (acute) and long-standing (chronic) health conditions.
The system was developed by Dr. Count Cesare Mattei, who formulated remedies derived from non-poisonous medicinal plants.
